Recipe Builder: One Recipe, Automatic Allergens, Nutritionals and QUID

One recipe, built once, with allergens, QUID and nutritionals calculated automatically as it's built.

Building a recipe, checking its allergens, calculating QUID percentages and confirming the nutritional panel is normally three separate jobs, done by three different people, at three different points in time. Food Trace’s Recipe Builder brings all three together in one workflow, so nothing has to be manually reconciled after the fact. Recipes are built by adding approved ingredients straight from live supplier specifications, so allergens, QUID and nutritionals are calculated automatically as the recipe takes shape, not reconciled afterwards.

Allergens flagged without cross-referencing

All 14 major UK and EU allergens are detected automatically from ingredient specifications and flagged at the recipe level, along with “may contain” and cross-contamination risks. Nobody has to manually cross-check an ingredient list against an allergen matrix.

Nutritionals from a trusted source

Nutritional values are calculated per 100g and per serving using the McCance & Widdowson food composition database, the same reference source used by the NHS and the Food Standards Agency, and export directly for labelling and QUID buyer submissions.

Built for real recipes, not just ingredient lists

Sub-recipes such as sauces, marinades and doughs can be built once and reused as ingredients in other recipes, with full version control, audit trails and side-by-side comparisons whenever something changes. Because ingredients pull live data from approved supplier specs, a change at supplier level flows straight through to every recipe that uses it, and straight into the Nutrition Calculator.

Why getting this right matters

A missed allergen or an out of date QUID figure rarely stays a small mistake. It can mean a recall, a failed audit, or a customer reaction that never should have happened. Recipe Builder closes that gap at the source, so the recipe, the allergen declaration, the QUID figures and the nutritional panel are always describing the exact same product, not four separate versions of it drifting apart over time.
